Now we are on our way to Reykjavik, Iceland, the capital.

For our first shore excursion in the morning, it rained all morning! The average August rainfall is about 62mm (2.4 in) so we were sure to get some rain. Our first tour was a Panoramic of Reykjavik.

We stopped at Perlan and after a qucik photo (yes rain) we headed inside.

They had a wall of Puffins...not real.

Iceland is into being "green" I love their saying.

Iceland has "free heat" and nearly free electricity since it is all hydro

I went on the roof and took some "wet" photos-using the iphone as it was raining too hard.

We then went for a walk downtown. This is the statue to the unknown bureaucrat. It is of a man on his way to work with a briefcase in hand, the upper part of his body is not a torso or a head, but a huge piece of Icelandic volcanic basalt. Created by artist Magnús Tómsson in 1994, the statue is said to pay a satirical tribute to the country’s numerous bureaucrats who serve their country and keep it running.

Reykjavik is the bright orange at the bottom right.

We had time to get back to the ship and get a bite to eat and pick up our bathing suits and towels before heading off to the Blue Lagoon.

I was the first one in the water

Sharon coming out the main entrance

We got free drinks with our pass. Most people took beer and other drinks...not with this water I don't think it's a good idea.

Some spots were hotter than others

It was such a beautiful and warming experience

Well, goodbye Blue Lagoon

As we head back to our ship for supper

And we thought it was the end of our tiring day...and then we get a text from Kheayali to look for the auris borealis. We sat on the deck in the back until nearly 11:30pm and nothing.
